Redesigned Google Play Store now rolling out to users

NEW DELHI: It appears that the redesigned version of Google Play Store is now being rolled out to Android devices.

The development was originally reported by the folks at Android Central who have already received the update. This follows Google engineer Kirill Grouchnikov spilling the beans on the Play Store on mobile getting a big visual overhaul.

The new design is inspired by Google's Material Design language, and offers different tabs for apps (and games) and other content offered by the digital marketplace. The redesign includes a highlights banner at the top that features popular content across all categories. Different content destinations are colour coded and follow a theme.

It also features the recently revamped Google logo and switches to horizontal scrolling for navigation to aid discovery.

The update will be rolled out from Google's end and not as an app update.
